John Purcell, Director, European Sales

John Purcell has over 20 years of sales, marketing and operational experience, the majority of which has been with market research and business information companies. John's career experience includes the launch of the Nielsen//NetRatings service in the UK and Europe where he developed the business from a standing start into a multi-million dollar entity within 2 years, selling data and analytical services into major corporate, media and internet companies throughout the region. Prior to this, John ran the Media Expenditure Analysis business for ACNielsen in the UK. He instigated a complete operational overhaul of the business. The result was an improvement in data flexibility and analytical reporting which in turn led to significant increases in overall revenues and operating incomes. The data model was subsequently adopted by ACNielsen on a global basis. Additionally, John has managed sales teams for a number of organisations including Dennis Publishing and Avert IT as well as having held a number of positions in marketing services over a 4-year period at Thomson Newspapers. He originally started his career as one of the first telesales operatives at the launch of The Independent newspaper in London in 1986. John has also provided consultancy services to companies specialising in digital marketing and business information. He is a graduate of the University of London.

Living in Ascot, UK with his wife and two children, John naturally enjoys horse racing as well as spending far too much time (and money) on maintaining a 1997 Audi softop.
